The doctrine relating to the National Territory has been the subject of a generaloverhaul over the last two years in order to integrate legal and doctrinal developments but also to take account of newly identified needs.

Thus, this already robust doctrinal corpus, consisting of "framework" documents²⁷which have undergone major revisions, has been supplemented by mementos designed to facilitate land forces' understanding of their environment in the NN.

This update has been done in a concerted and coordinated manner between the Army and the joint level, in order to provide the reader with overall consistency.

The principle of subsidiarity was thus respected and made it possible to introduce new concepts such as the Land Protection Posture (LPP) into doctrine. Introduced by the DIA on "The use of armies in the NR".²⁸Introduced by the DIA on "Land Commitments in the North".²⁹The TPP was finally described in its most complete form in the FTD on "Doctrine for the Employment of Land Forces in the TN".³⁰ ».

The legal environment is fully taken into account by the DIA on the "Legal framework for the employment of armies in the TN³¹ "which presents the changes introduced by Instruction 1010032 on the modalities of engagement of the armed forces in the NT, as well as the modifications on the use of force with the establishment of a legal framework for the use of weapons applicable to military personnel under conditions. The "TN Legal Memento³³"The aim of this more "practical" document, designed in the form of thematic fact sheets, is to facilitate the understanding of the most common legal issues encountered in the NT.

The necessary acculturation to the NT "environment" has also been the subject of major doctrinal work in order to facilitate interoperability with the Internal Security Forces (ISF). The "Athena" memento³⁴ "memento was a response to the need of the Tactical Headquarters (TMS) for planning assistance in a new environment. The Chief's memento "In Touch³⁵ "is intended to provide concrete answers to the questions asked by section and group leaders working on the TN alongside the ISF: organisation, acronyms, conduct and RETEX elements of the main terrorist attacks. The "Memento of tactical procedures for joint actions between army and gendarmerie units".³⁶ "completes this work of mutual acquaintance.

As a result, the NT doctrinal framework is now well established and allows land forces to engage in the NT in a stabilized doctrinal environment that is in tune with a profoundly changed context.
