Data represents knowledge and understanding. Data in the broadest sense brings together all the knowledge in a field, about a group of individuals or relating to an ongoing action. As such, data is of strategic interest.

Regardless of the organisation producing data, it is necessary to be able to use them, and therefore to structure the production, storage and exploitation of these elements. Obviously, the danger of seeing this information diverted makes it necessary to secure both storage and transport. So far, nothing new whatever the medium, paper or digital.

In this context, data is a centre of gravity for any human organization. What is new is the quantity of terabytes produced annually. This has led to an evolution of storage capacities via data centers and the notion of " big data". The problem that results from this exponential production of data is the exploitation of the latter. At stake is the ability to have the right information at the right time in order to have a superiority over a competitor or an adversary in order to impose its will.

Faced with the inhumanity of this task, the future technological revolution will be that of the tools enabling this major effect to be achieved:

"having the right information, reliable and protected, at the right time". Artificial intelligence tools will partly replace administrators in the field of data structuring. They will have to allow a thorough flow of information to users and decision-makers. In this way, information will no longer be sought, but will come when needed.

It is under these conditions that informational superiority will be obtained, making data a lever of power and a new centre of gravity.
